Get a Library Card

Visitors to the Hewitt Public Library may submit an application for a library card by presenting a valid form of identification and proof of current address.

Are Library Cards Free?

Library cards for the Hewitt Public Library are available free of charge to residents or property owners of the City of Hewitt and McClennan County.

  • Visitors must present a valid form of identification and proof of current address.
  • Cards are issued for one year and may be renewed with proper verification.

Non-Residents

Library visitors who reside outside of McClennan County may purchase a library card for an annual fee of $40. Non-resident cards allow the same privileges as a resident card and are issued for one year.

Other Types of Cards

Technology Card

A technology card allows access to the library's on-site computers and may be issued to visitors over the age of 8, regardless of residence, who only wants to use computer services. This card does not allow borrowing privileges.

Provisional Card

A provisional card is available for temporary residents and for people who do not have a Texas driver's license or other form of Texas identification. This card is valid for one year and may not be renewed; however, it can be transferred to a regular card upon proof of current address or payment of the out-of-county fee.

Business Card

Library cards are available for businesses located within the City of Hewitt. These cards will be issued in the name of an organization or business upon the request by the entity's executive director or owner. The request must be made in person, and the executive director or owner must provide proof of position in the organization. The responsibility of this accounts rests with the applicant.

TexShare Card

The Hewitt Public Library honors TexShare cards issued from participating libraries. TexShare patrons may check out one print item at a time and are responsible for any fines or fees accrued. Current HPL cardholders may request a TexShare card for use at participating libraries provided their library card is in good standing. Cardholders must follow the guidelines of the lending library and submit payment for any fines or fees accrued.
