The Texas State Library & Archives Commission (TSLAC) has awarded the Hewitt Public Library funding from two of its available grant programs in SFY 2026. These exciting projects — the Texas Reads Grant and the Library Infrastructure Facility Improvement (LIFI) Grant—represent major investments in our city’s quality of life, literacy, and long-term digital access. Both of these grants will help push our vision forward to create more ways for people of all ages to thrive.

In a library setting, sensory inclusion is particularly impactful. Libraries often evoke a sense of calm, but they can still pose sensory challenges for certain individuals. The quiet hum of activity, occasional loud noises, and the visual stimulation of various displays can all contribute to sensory overload for patrons with sensitivities. By offering Sensory Bags, the Hewitt Public Library enables these individuals to manage their sensory environment more effectively, making the library experience enjoyable rather than stressful.

Investing in the STEAM education of our youth is investing in our collective future. The Hewitt Public Library is helping to cultivate a generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers.
