Matthew was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and spent six years in Illinois before settling down in Hewitt in 2014. He and his wife have three driven children. Matthew has eleven years in the municipal water and wastewater utility field across two states, having worked in operations, laboratory, and pretreatment enforcement. He currently holds class C surface water and class B wastewater operator licenses through TCEQ.
As the head of a household of dedicated artists and learners, Matthew is a tremendous fan of our library and loves to visit Hewitt Park when he can fit it in between the dedicated rigor of the Midway Fine Arts Program schedules. A newcomer to city politics, he was compelled to run in 2019, feeling that his combination of a love of civic duty, an understanding of city “culture,” and a “view from the trenches” perspective many people may not otherwise consider would serve the community well in the years to come.
