Vacation Leave
All regular full-time and regular part-time employees who work at least 20 hours per week will accrue paid vacation leave on a bi-weekly basis. Employees are eligible for vacation benefits after completion of six months of service.
Sick Leave
Regular full-time employees are eligible to accrue sick leave on a bi-weekly basis.
Floating Holiday
Employees are provided with one floating holiday each year that must be used in the calendar year accrued.

The City of Hewitt offers a wide variety of wellness opportunities and incentives in an effort to help contain the cost of health insurance premiums and to promote a health conscious workforce. Our focus is to bring about health awareness to our employees by providing educational and physical fitness opportunities to get healthy, stay healthy, or manage any existing conditions.
Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)

Our City retirement plan is offered through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS). Employees are required to contribute 7% of their earnings. The City matches this contribution on a 2 to 1 ratio. After 5 years of employment, employees are considered to be vested. Employees are eligible to retire with 20 years of service at any age or at age 60 with at least 5 years of service.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The City of Hewitt offers an Employee Assistance Program which is a confidential service designed to help employees manage daily responsibilities, major events, work stresses, or any issue affecting their quality of life. And it’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The City’s workers’ compensation insurance is administered by the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool (TML-IRP). TML-IRP is responsible for investigating, determining compensability, and performing various functions related to handling an employee’s claim.
Workers’ compensation insurance provides covered employees with medical benefits, temporary income benefits (TIBs), and impairment income benefits (IIBs) due to a work-related injury or illness.
