TexShare

TexShare Card

The TexShare Card allows patrons to borrow materials from over 500 library collections all across Texas. The card is accepted in a wide variety of public and academic libraries, allowing borrowers in good standing access to hundreds of books and other materials that would previously have been unobtainable. A patron's library card, in combination with the TexShare Card, is a ticket to a powerful network of library resources in Texas.

Obtaining a TexShare Card

Hewitt Public Library patrons may obtain a TexShare card under the following conditions:

  • Must be a library cardholder in good standing (no overdue or lost books and no library fines) for at least six months.
  • Library card must show recent activity - at least six months of checking out / in at least one item per month.
  • Must provide current proof of residency (bill or official piece of mail no older than 30 days) and a photo ID to obtain or renew a TexShare card.

Visiting TexShare cardholders may obtain a Hewitt Public Library card provided they present a current, unedited TexShare card from their home library and a valid form of photo identification. The patron may check out one print book.

TexShare cards are valid for six months.

TexShare Databases

Hewitt Public Library cardholders have access to the many varied databases available through the Texas State Library's TexShare program. These databases include magazine and newspaper articles, journal articles, e-books, maps, and more to answer research or reference questions. Databases may be accessed via the Hewitt Public Library online catalog or by visiting the TexShare website.
