NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OF FY 2008-2009 BUDGET
This hearing will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Hewitt City Hall, 105 Tampico. "This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year's budget by $189,044 (7.3%) and of that amount $60,333 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the roll this year." A copy of the budget may be examined at City Hall.
City Council appointed James Vidrine to serve Ward 2
Mr. Vidrine was sworn in at the July 21, 2008 Council Meeting. His prior experience on the Council makes him an excellent stand-in!
City received Distinguished Budget Award
The City of Hewitt has received this award for the past six years. The award represents a significant achievement by the City of Hewitt as it reflects the commitment of the City Council and staff in meeting the highests principles of governmental budgeting. Our thanks to Lee Garcia for her efforts in achieving this award!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
How would you like to make a difference in your community? The City of Hewitt is seeking volunteers to serve on the Library Board, Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment.

The Library Board is an advisory board to the City Council that recommends needed enhancements and activities of the library. The Board meets quarterly as needed. Appointments are made by the City Council for two year terms.

The Planning & Zoning Commission has one vacancy. This Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and is responsible to and serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on zoning matters. They also approve subdivision and platting requests. Appointments are made by the Council for a three-year term.

The Board of Adjustment also has one vacancy for an Alternate Member. This board makes decisions concerning the zoning ordinance. If someone seeks a special exception, this board is asked to rule. Appointments are made by the City Council for two year terms.
