The City of Hewitt’s Ad Valorem Tax Rate for the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 (October 2015-September 2016) remains at .539677 per $100 of taxable property value. The ad valorem tax is divided into two distinct parts: .329858 for maintenance and operations and .209819 for debt service.

Of the Total Exemptions of $174 million, $96 million, or 55%, is for the 20% Homestead Exemption and $60 million, or 34% is for Disabled Veterans.

Ad valorem tax revenue for FY 15-16 is 47% of the General Fund budget. The General Fund also depends on Sales tax revenue, 21% and Franchise revenue, 14%.
